You'll have plenty of free time on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning, and Sunday evening. The Edition and Kanai area have so much to offer — here are some of our favorite ways to spend your downtime.
The Edition sits on a pristine stretch of Caribbean coastline. Spend a morning with your toes in the white sand, floating in the turquoise water, or just watching the waves from a lounger. Beach service means drinks and snacks come to you.

Two stunning infinity pools overlook the ocean — one for lounging and one for laps. Grab a daybed, order a frozen margarita, and settle in. The pool scene at the Edition is genuinely one of the best in the Riviera Maya.

The Edition's adults-only beach club is where our Sunday Encore Party will be held — but it's open every day. Think Ibiza-meets-Caribbean: daybeds, a DJ, a gorgeous pool, and excellent cocktails. Perfect for a lazy afternoon.

Treat yourself to a massage, facial, or body treatment at the Edition's full-service spa. Inspired by traditional Mayan healing practices and set within a lush jungle setting, it's the ultimate pre-wedding wind-down. Book ahead — it fills up fast.

The Edition has a brand-new fitness center with ocean views and top-of-the-line equipment. There's also a yoga deck overlooking the mangroves — maybe join Mike for some Saturday morning yoga before the ceremony. Running trails wind through the Kanai nature reserve if you prefer to be outside.

Our absolute top recommendation. Toro is the Japanese restaurant at the neighboring St. Regis Kanai and it is insanely good. Think world-class sushi, wagyu, and inventive cocktails in a stunning setting. Make a reservation as far in advance as you can — it books up quickly.

The Edition has two full-service restaurants and an iconic lobby bar. You won't need to leave the property to eat well. The lobby bar is perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or late-night drink — the design alone is worth the visit. The St. Regis next door has additional dining options all accessible on foot.

Another gem next door — La Ceiba is the St. Regis's signature Mexican restaurant serving elevated regional cuisine. Beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the mangroves. Great for a Saturday morning brunch before the ceremony.

The famous pedestrian shopping street in Playa del Carmen is about 20 minutes by taxi from the hotel. You'll find boutiques, souvenir shops, street art, restaurants, and bars stretching for blocks. It's lively, colorful, and a great way to experience the local scene. Best visited on your own time Sunday evening.

If you venture into Playa del Carmen, seek out the taco stands and street food vendors on the side streets off 5th Avenue. Al pastor, cochinita pibil, and fresh ceviche are all incredible. Ask the hotel concierge for their current favorites — the best spots rotate.

The Riviera Maya sits on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — the second largest in the world. The hotel concierge can arrange snorkeling trips to nearby reefs or, for certified divers, dives at world-class sites. The waters are warm, crystal-clear, and teeming with tropical fish, sea turtles, and rays.

The Yucatán is famous for its cenotes — natural sinkholes filled with fresh, crystal-clear water surrounded by limestone and jungle. There are several within a short drive of the hotel. Ask the concierge to arrange a visit to one of the nearby cenotes for a truly unforgettable swim.

The waters off the Riviera Maya are some of the best in the world for sport fishing. Charter boats depart from nearby marinas for half-day or full-day trips targeting mahi-mahi, sailfish, and marlin. A great group activity if you want to organize something with friends.
